Plug-in reference sheet

This short research project / report is designed to help solidify your working knowledge of at least one plug-in from several of the main processing categories. Your main reference resource should be the Protools Audio Plug-in Guide PDF, plus web resources as needed. If you use 3rd party plug-ins (see additional info below) you will need to use the help system or manual that comes with the plug-ins.

The form of the reference sheet is up to you - please pick a format that is useful to you and is clear and to the point; at the least, you should list and briefly describe the main controls for each plug-in. Bullet points with short descriptions are fine. These do not need to be extensive write ups, but they should make it clear that you understand the main features and controls, as well as the general use of the plug-in. You must use your own words - no copy and paste allowed. It is important that you understand what each control does. It would be best to work on this with protools running and the plug-in loaded so you can test each feature as you go along. If you use 3rd party plug-ins (not part of the standard Protoos install) you should download and install them on your own machine for testing.

Listed below are the categories and some suggested plug-ins. You must include at least one plug-in from each category, but If you would like to do more than one, that would is fine. If you are already quite familiar with the stock Protools plug-ins, you can make substitutions based on plug-ins we have in the studio (recommendations are in parenthesis). All plug-ins must be currently installed in the studio. This would include the Waves Platinum bundle, Izotope Alloy and Nectar , and Altiverb from Audio Ease.

EQ - EQ 3: 7 band (or the Eq in Izotope Alloy or WavesQ8 or REQ 6)

Dynamics - Dyn 3 compressor / limiter including side chain features (or the compressor in Izotope Alloy or Waves H-Comp, VComp)

Reverb - Air Reverb and / or D-verb - your choice (or Waves Trueverb, Rverb, or IR- L: you can also do Altiverb, but there is no trial version available)

Delay - mod delay III (or Waves H-Delay or SuperTap)

Modulation - any that come with the standard installation (or from Waves, like MetaFlanger or MondoMod)

Harmonic - any that come with the standard installation
